Clarke and Chapman too good at Macksville golf

NEWsponsor Ray Chapman Carpentry and Home Services sponsored the postponed stroke round for the monthly medal and spoon on Saturday at the Macksville Golf Course.

Glorious weather and a layoutin great condition greeted players but the strong wind saw a number of competitorsstruggle to post a decent score.

Allan Clarke again took out the spoon for the best gross score with a one over par 73.

Sponsor Ray Chapman took out the medal with the best nett score of 65, a sensational return in the testing conditions.

Specialmention to Rhys Fuller who returned his best round with a fine 69 nett.

Winners of the three grades on Saturday were:Allan Clarke in A grade, Ray Chapman took out B grade and Al Keetman continued his recent good form to take C grade.

Ross Donnelly took out the front nine prize with a nett of34.5, while Darren Pike tooking out the back nine, also with a nett of 34.5.

Nearest the pin shots went to Darren Pike in A grade and Rhys Fuller inB Grade (no C graders could find the mark).

The ball competition went back to Brad Southan on a countback.

*Last Thursday’s stableford event winner was Ross Donnelly, with Ray Chapman taking out the nearest the pin.

* ThisSaturday’s event will bea TwoballBest Ball Stableford and will be jointly sponsored by GJ Kennedy and the Nambucca River Department Store.

On Sunday,a working bee starting at 9am will be held to help ready the course for the club championships.

The club hopes to see asmany people who can roll up their sleeves as possible to ensure the course is in the best possible shape for the premier event on the calendar.
