That’s the message from Redpath’s former Kyneton coach Derrick Filo after the big Western Bulldogs forward suffered a third serious knee injury on Saturday night.

Redpath, 25, underwent two knee reconstructions on his left knee before he was 19.

On Saturday night he ruptured the ACL in his right knee and faces 12 months on the sidelines.

“He’s a tough kid,’’ Filo said of Redpath.

“This injury is a bit of a kick to him and it’s a setback, but if there’s anyone who can come back from something like this it’s Jack. He’s been through it before and he’ll be back for sure.”

Filo always thought Redpath had the ability to play in the AFL, but the two knee reconstructions hindered the big forward’s progress.

The Bulldogs took a punt on the then 21-year-old Redpath by selecting him with pick 62 in the 2011 rookie draft.A badly broken arm and a knee injury stopped Redpath from making his AFL debut until the 2014 season.

He’s made up for lost time since, playing 25 games and kicking 41 goals before Saturday night’s injury.

“He’s a special talent and it’s great to see him doing well with the Bulldogs,’’ Filo said.

“He’s a really nice kid and at the same time he’s mentally tough. He’s come through the tough times before.”

Earlier this year, Redpath signed a one-year contract extension with the Bulldogs that ties him to the club until the end of 2017.

“I was given an opportunity by this club to play AFL footy, and after a few injuries, and now to be playing some good footy in the firsts, it’s a good time to be around,” Redpath said at the time of signing the contract extension.
