NBN: Sky Muster II, the second NBN satellite is almost ready for launch, promising better high-speed broadband.The countdown is on for the launch of National Broadband Network’s (NBN)second satellite, Sky MusterII, scheduled to blast intospace on October 5, 2016.

Taking off from French Guiana Space Centre in South America, it is set to orbit 36,000km into the sky and is one ofthe world’s largest communications satellites, weighing in at 6,400kgs.

Following the successful launch of NBN’s first satellite late last year, Sky MusterII will provide additional datacapacity to support the delivery of the company’s satellite broadband service.

The NBN is available to residents and businesses in parts of Wami Kata, Port Augusta,Stirling North, and Port Augusta West.

There’s alsothe first glimpse of the artwork thatwill be printed on the nosecone of the rocket, which willlaunch Sky MusterTM II into orbit.

Themosaic-style image is made up of more than 700 luckyAustralians who won the chance to include an image of theirface on this historic piece of national infrastructure.
