Parkes based Wright has been dominant on the Picnic circuit over several years and travels far and wide to give his owners the opportunity to earn prize money with their horses contesting races suited to their ability.

A trainer of thoroughbreds for the past 15 years George Wright was initially involved in harness racing being a trainer-driver from age 17 at his hometown,Peak Hill.

Over the following 20 years, he handled some smart pacers, among the best being Billy War Cloud and Regal Monarch.

An interstate challenge series involved heats in Victoria and New South Wales.

George Wright drove Regal Monarch to victory in the final at Fairfield Paceway.

Apart from his many wins with gallopers on the Picnic circuit, Wright has achieved plenty of success at TAB meetings.

Jellybean Jack was a talented two year old prepared by Wright to win juvenile races before finishing a close third to subsequent Melbourne winner Jackpot Queen in the famous Wellington Boot.

This winter Wright has done an excellent job with Emerald Fortune.

The lightly raced gelding wonthe Tomingley Picnic Cup when carrying the top weight against much more seasoned rivals and then winning successive TAB races at Narromine and Dubbo.

Very much involved in the Wright stable success is the trainers son George Wright Junior,a regular track work rider.

Runner up to George Wright in the NSW Picnic Trainers premiership was Mark Cummins from Young with Moree trainer Peter Sinclair in third place.

Apart from horse racing George Wright has had a long time involvement with rugby league being a former player with Peak Hill and now an avid supporter and committee member of the Parkes club in Group Eleven.

Racing at Coonabarabran (TAB) on Saturday and Forbes Cup (TAB) Monday followed by Louth (Saturday, August 6) and Bathurst (Monday, August 8).
